CHC community program participants in Kanye

Built From Compassion, Driven by Mission

The Community and Health Center (CHC) was founded in 2015 in Kanye, Botswana by Matlhatso Kesupile-Reed — a nurse and behavioral health psychotherapist whose 30+ year career began at the CDC Gaborone office under the American Embassy, where she contributed to the BOTUSA TB/HIV/AIDS Research Project.

After relocating to Philadelphia and spending over a decade serving communities there — including volunteer work with the House of Roses NGO — she returned to her home community in Kanye with a profound conviction: that the people of Kanye deserved access to dignified, holistic, compassionate care.

She established CHC with the support of her husband Samuel A. Reed III, her brother Mooketsa Busboy Kesupile, and a dedicated team of volunteers. Since then, CHC has graduated over 300 preschool children, served 500+ youth, enrolled 200+ elderly in day care, and raised over $200,000 to fund its programs.
